Field Trips
Two days of field tours will be available, one focusing on the Long-Term Soil Productivity Study and related research sites, and the other on the burgeoning biomass industry in the vicinity of Kamloops, BC. Both field trips will be guided by local researchers and foresters with expert knowledge of the local landscape, forests, and forest management.
The biomass industry field trip will be held on Tuesday, June 1 and will include both outdoors and indoors activites such as forest sites where mountain pine beetle (MPB)-killed lodgepole pine has been harvested for biomass, biomass utilization projects and activities.
The Long Term Soil Productivity field trip will be held on Friday, June 4 and will include a field visit to the LTSP installations managed by Graeme Hope. Additional stops may include silviculture systems trials, MPB devastated forests, and exploration of native vegetation communities.
