Men's Basketball

The WolfPack men's basketball program took a major step forward on May 20,2010.  That was the day that Scott Clark officially became the head coach of the TRU program.

Scott is one of the most respected coaches in Canadian University Sport. He comes to Thompson Rivers University after spending 15 years as the head coach of the Simon Fraser University Clan.  In that time, the Clan made the playoffs the last ten years.

Born and raised in Kelowna, BC, the move to TRU is looked at as a bit of a homecoming.   Scott has a Masters in Degree in Education (Coaching Studies) and is a certified Level 4 Coach.   He started coaching basketball at Naniamo Secondary in the 1980's and has served as an assistant coach with the University of Victoria and at Malaspina College in Naniamo.  Scott has also worked with various national and provincial teams.

The WolfPack will rely on 7'2" Greg Stewart (5th year, Kamloops, BC)  to be the main man of their success in 2010-11.  Stewart became the first basketball player in TRU history to win a major Canada West Award.  He was chosen as the 'Defensive Player of the Year."

Other key players in the fortunes of the 'Pack are expected to be second year forward Travis Beck (Vernon, BC), third year forward Charles Barton (Vernon, BC), fifth year forward Connor Agnew (Prince Rupert, BC) and third year guard Matt Pierce (Winnipeg, Man)
