KAMLOOPS - Volleyball all-star Tanis Hoeltgen, a grade 12 honours student who will graduate from D.W. Poppy Secondary School in Langley this June, has committed to the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team for the upcoming 2007/08 season.
She is looking forward to joining the WolfPack, which entered CIS competition two years ago.
“I am mentally tough and I thrive in pressure situations and in game play. I am very positive and coachable, and a leader on and off the court,” she said.
The 5’10” power/libero is one of the team captains of the Fraser Valley Volleyball Club “The Blitz” this year, and helped lead her team to a national championship this past weekend. She has also been captain of her high school team, leading it to a bronze medal at the provincial championship, where she was selected as a 1st-team all-star, and to first-place finishes at the Fraser Valley Championship, the Malaspina College Tournament, and the Peace Arch Volleyball Tournament, where she was selected as tournament MVP at each event.

Tanis, who received her school’s Principal’s Award in 2004 and 2005, will be enrolled in the business program at TRU.
"Tanis is a wonderful addition to our program. With both Provincial and National Championship Medals around her neck, Tanis is bringing great energy and experience to our WolfPack team." says head coach Carrie Barrett. "It is easy to understand why Tanis has been appointed one of the captains for her Club team, she is enthusiastic, motivated, competitive and respectful. All terrific attributes that are highly valued in our program at TRU. Tanis works very hard and is a dedicated student athlete. I look forward to great things from Tanis in the future." |
