WolfPack kicks off varsity athletics with pre-season soccer tourney

KAMLOOPS- The WolfPack will be kicking off against the Okanagan University College Lakers, the Skagit Valley College Cardinals, and the TRU Alumni this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at TRU’s 2nd annual Soccer Invitational at Hillside Stadium.
The tournament is much more than just a warm-up for the regular BC Colleges Athletics Association (BCCAA) season.
“We’ll use the games this weekend to help us make our final roster choices,” explained WolfPack women’s soccer head coach Eric Schweizer. “After this weekend, we will have to make some tough decisions.”
WolfPack men’s soccer coach Sean Wallace is in the same position, using the weekend’s play as part of his tryout.
Three simultaneous games start at 6 pm Friday, with the WolfPack women vs the Cardinals on the turf field, the TRU Alumni men meeting the Lakers on the lower bowl, and the TRU Alumni women meeting the Lakers on the upper bowl. Friday’s games wind up with the WolfPack men kicking off against the Cardinals at 8 pm on the turf field.
Saturday’s action is all on the lower bowl, with the WolfPack women vs the Lakers at 8 am, followed by the WolfPack men vs the Lakers at 10 am. At noon, the TRU Alumni women meet the Cardinals, with the TRU Alumni men playing the Cardinals at 2 pm.
Action starts at 11 am Sunday when the WolfPack men meet the TRU Alumni on the turf field, with the Cardinals men playing the Lakers on the lower bowl at the same time. At 1 pm, the TRU Alumni women kick off against the WolfPack on the turf field while the Cardinals women meet the Lakers on the lower bowl.
Awards begin at 3 pm on the turf field.
Teams will be awarded three points for a win and one point for a tie. Penalty kicks at the end of each game during the round robin will be used to determine a winner in the event of a tie after the round robin, or in the event of a three-way tie after all points are tallied at the end of tournament play.
