WOLFPACK WVB SWEEP WESMEN IN THREE SETS

For immediate Release: November 21, 2008
Winnipeg: Its hot in the Interior most of the time. And although it is late November, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Women's Volleyball team brought some of that hotstuff into a frigid Winnipeg (minus 20 with the windchill). The WolfPack were as hot as a summers day in Kamloops, as they took the University of Winnipeg Wesmen in three straight sets in CIS action. The scores were 25-15,25-18,25-17.
"It was our most complete effort of the season," exclaimed WolfPack head coach Cal Wohlford afterwards "Our serving was solid and we had a good team attack." Wohlford pointed to the 41 kills and only nine errors as the WolfPack won for the first time since the opening weekend of the season nearly a month ago.
Daniela Bercelli (4th year, outside hitter, Jundai, Brazil) had 12 kills. Anna Dyakiewicz (2nd year, outside hitter, Burnaby, BC) contributed 11 kills. Richelle Walton (5 th year, outside hitter, Langley, BC) had 7 kills.
"As a team, we knew we had to step it up a bit if we want to have any hope of making the playoffs." said Wohlford.
Michella Domo (2nd year, middle, New Westminster,BC) had 6 kills and 2 blocks.
Wohlford gave credit to 2nd year outside hitter Amanda Frayne (Kamloops, BC) for coming off the bench and making some key
serves.
"We stuck to our game plan all three sets," stated Wohlford "I'm hoping we can continue it again tommorrow."
The WolfPack are now 2and 7. The Wesmen drop to 1 and 6. The two teams play again Saturday at 8 pm CDT
