Nanaimo:  “Our inability to score goals came back to haunt us,” the words of Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Women’s soccer coach Eric Schweizer following his teams 3-0 defeat at the hands of Langara College Falcons in the gold medal match of the BC College Athletic Association Championships.

“After we surrendered the first goal 5 minutes in, “ recounted Schweizer. “ I actually thought we carried the play for the rest of the half.  But at this level, the first goal is so very important.”

In the second half, the WolfPack changed strategy and employed a third striker. It came back to hurt them as the Falcons scored two more goals, one at the 55 minute mark and the other coming with about 15 minutes left  (75 minute mark).

“I hope we’ll get another crack at them in a couple of weeks,” says Schweizer referring to the fact both teams now make it to the 2008 Big Kahuna/Adidas CCAA  Soccer Nationals to be held at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops starting November 5 th.

Shannon Kelly (5 th year, Kamloops, BC) was in goal for TRU.  First year Midfielder Jessie Lebert (Kamloops, BC) was named the top midfielder at the provincials.
