WOLFPACK WBB FALL IN FRASER VALLEY

For Immediate Release: January 9, 2008
Abbotsford, BC—Soggy. The description of the Fraser Valley these days and a good way to look at the Canada West Women’s Basketball game between the host University of Fraser Valley Cascades and the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack. The teams turned the ball over a total of 45 times as the Cascades downed the WolfPack 87-72.
"We couldn't convert our field goals and couldn't stop the penetration of their guards." said WolfPack coach Scott Reeves following the contest.
The Cascades had turned over the ball 14 times in the first half to the WolfPack’s 12. The difference appeared to be the Fraser Valley girls ability to capitalize on the TRU errors. Four UFV players shot double figures led by Alyssa Gaukel’s (3rd year, forward, Chilliwack, BC) 19.
TRU, who trailed 42-39 at the half got double figure scoring from only two players (Diane Schuetze (1st year ,post, Vernon, BC) with 19 and Jessica Mulock(2nd year, forward, North Vancouver, BC) with 17.).
The WolfPack did outrebound the Cascades 49-41. Tracy Kocs (1st year, forward, Coquitlam, BC) leading the way with 10 boards—six on offense. " That was one of our goals and we did a good job." Reeves added.
TRU loses their fifth straight Canada West Game to fall to 3 and 12. Fraser Valley is 4 and 11. Next up for the WolfPack are Trinity Western (Jan 16) and SFU (Jan 17) in the Lower Mainland. Their final home games are January 23 rd and 24 th against the U Vic Vikings at the Tournament Capital Center.
