For Immediate Release: December 28, 2008

Kamloops BC- So far, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Women's Basketball team is loving the warmer temperatures in San Diego, California. The WolfPack opened up the 2008 Surf 'N Slam Womens Basketball Tournament with a 56-47 win over the Sough Puget Sound Clippers of Olympia Washington.

"We started slow," said WolfPack head coach Scott Reeves. "In fact, it was probably our worst shooting performance of the year, but we were only down 25-21 at the half. It's possible that the Christmas time layoff was a factor in our sluggish start."

The WolfPack shot better in the second half and rolled to the victory.

"We took care of the defensive boards," added Reeves, "It was a combined effort and the team really responded well after our time off."

5 th year guard Sarah Cameron (Langley, BC) had nine points. Tracy Kocs (1st year, forward, Coquitlam, BC) also had nine points for the WolfPack.

"Tracy continues to impress me with her competitiveness, ability to find the open man and shooting the ball." stated Reeves. Kaitlyn Widsten (2nd year, guard, Tswwassen, BC) had 7 points as well for TRU, who have a day off before closing out the tournament against Seward County Kansas Saints. The Saints are ranked in the top 10 of the National Junior College league.
