WOLFPACK WITH SIX WOMEN AND FOUR MEN NAMED TO BC CAA ALLSTAR TEAMS

Kamloops-Regardless of whether or not the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Women’s soccer team win the National championship, this will be a final year to remember for Shantelle Cooper. The 5 th year midfielder (Nanaimo, BC) has been named a BC College Athletic Association Allstar and Player of the Year.
“Im excited and surprised,” said Cooper, who was told of the honour before Wednesday night’s practice at Hillside Stadium “It means even more since this is my final year. It’s a great honor but I have to put it aside”. Cooper, the WolfPack’s co-captain referring to their preparation for this weekend’s provincial championship.
Cooper admits that this season was her best yet in University “I really thought my experience paid off”
“Very well deserved,” says WolfPack Head Coach Eric Schweizer. “And having four players on the first allstar team and two on the second is a good indication of the strength of our team. We could have had more players on the all star team, but when it comes to the selection process…its very tough.”
Joining Cooper onn the BC CAA First Allstar team are goaltender Shannon Kelly (5 th year, Kamloops, BC), defender Shannen Meyer (3rd year, Kamloops, BC) and defender Cailyn Newman (1st year, Sherwood Park, Alberta). Forward Kerry Hill (2nd year, Kamloops, BC) and midfielder Jessie Lebert (1st year, Kamloops, BC) are on the second team.
The WolfPack Men’s team had four players chosen to the allstar teams. Defender James Byra (5 th year, Chilliwack, BC), Goalie Allan Connor (3rd year, Salmon Arm, BC) and Defender Adam Dodgson (3rd year, Kamloops, BC) are on the first team. Midfielder Tim Unaegbu (3rd year, Port Coquitlam, BC) was chosen for the second allstar team.
