PERRIN NAMED CANADA WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK.

For immediate Release: January 19, 2009
Kamloops, BC: For the first time this season, a member of the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack has been named a Canada West Player of the Week.
Men’s Volleyball player Gord Perrin (2nd year, outside hitter, Creston, BC) was named the player of the week for two solid performances this weekend against the Brandon University Bobcats.
On Friday, Perrin had 17 kills, seven digs and a .412 hitting percentage as No. 9-ranked TRU (7-5) downed the No. 7 Bobcats 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 26-24). A night later the Arts student out of Creston, B.C. came up big again, with 19 kills and a host of digs, block assists and service aces during a 3-1 victory (25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19) and extending the WolfPack home unbeaten streak to eight matches and their conference unbeaten streak to six.
WolfPack Men’s Volleyball coach Pat Hennelly had this to say about Perrin’s selection: “Gord is playing very well for us right now, not only offensively but passing, blocking and defensively as well. He is becoming one of the best left side players in the CIS. Gord was instrumental in our win versus Brandon with his steady and consistent play. “
Perrin now ranks fifth in the conference in kills per set (4.00), fifth in aces and fourth in points.
Third-place Thompson Rivers has two more big matches, January 23-24, at Trinity Western (7-5). The victories over Brandon this weekend have solidified a playoff spot for the WolfPack. It’s the third straight year the Men’s program will go into post-season play.
