For immediate Release-Nov 1, 2008

Winnipeg: Chalk up another win for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Men’s Volleyball Team. But unlike their CIS Season opener against the hometown Manitoba Bisons,  Pat Hennelly injected a few new faces.

Setter Martin Stenderup (2nd year, Ribe, Denmark), and outside hitter Josh Boruck (2nd year, Revelstoke, BC) were inserted into the lineup.   The WolfPack took out the Bison 3-1.  The scores were 29-27,25-20,17-25,25-13.

“It was great to get a lot of faces in this weekend,” said Hennelly.  Robin Schoebel (3rd year, outside hitter, Monaco) was rested due to a flareup of his wonky knee.

“I think Manitoba was expecting to see him in there,” stated Hennelly.  “It took them a while to adjust.”
Stendrup had 48 assists.    Boruck was 10 for 19.

CIS All rookie and Canada West rookie of the year Gord Perrin (2nd year, outside hitter, Creston, BC) was on fire. He had 21 kills on 36 attempts.     Stefan Savoie (2nd year, middle, Winnipeg, Man)  was good 8 of 12.
Hennelly felt his squad was more consistant on the Saturday than in the first match of the year (a 3-2 win over the Bison on Friday (Oct 31).

TRU returns home to entertain UBC on Fri Nov 7 th.
