WOLFPACK MENS VOLLEYBALL UP TO 9 TH IN CIS RANKINGS

Kamloops, BC—Winning their own International volleyball tournament has propelled the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Men’s team up a notch in the first CIS Rankings of 2009. The WolfPack, who don’t return to regular league play until this weekend, are now sitting in ninth place in the top ten rankings.
That’s up a spot from the last rankings of December. Trinity Western University Spartans have fallen to 10th spot.
Alberta Golden Bears, the defending CIS and Canada West Champions remain in the number one spot that they have held for the entire season. They are 10 and 0 in league play. Other Canada West teams in the national top ten: Calgary Dinos remain fourth, Winnipeg Wesmen are sixth, UBC is still seventh and Brandon stands in 8 th spot.
“I’m feel confident the way our team is playing right now, “ says coach Pat Hennelly “ We get a chance to play three top ten teams in the next four weeks (Trinity Western, Brandon and Calgary). Every weekend until the end of the season in the Canada West will determine placings. I’m looking forward to getting started. I hope the rest of our team is too.”
The WolfPack return to Canada West play Friday and Saturday (Jan 9-10) in Regina against the Cougars. Their final home regular season match is January 16 th and 17 against Brandon University at the Tournament Capital Center.
