WOLFPACK LOSE FIRST MATCH  OF MVB REGULAR SEASON

Kamloops-“They played perfect defence and we couldn’t execute in the back row”.  That’s how Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball coach Pat Hennelly described his teams first loss of the young Canada West Men’s Volleyball season.

The WolfPack fell to 3 and 1 on the year after losing in 4 to the UBC Thunderbirds.  The scores were 20-25,25-23,17-25,18-25. 

With both Behlul Yavesgal (4th year, Aydin Turkey) and Robin Schoebel (3rd year, Monaco) out of the lineup, TRU was vulnerable on the right side, and UBC took advantage as they notched their first victory of the year (1-3).
Gord Perrin (2nd year, left side, Creston, BC) had 16 kills for TRU.  Josh Boruck (2nd year,outside hitter, Revelstoke, BC) had 13 kills.   Kyle Donen (3rd year, Libero, White Rock, BC) had 13 digs.  Colin Jaggard (4th year, setter, Calgary, Alta) had 32 assists.

For UBC: Left side Steve Gotch (5 th year, Okotoks, Alta) had 21 kills.   Jared Krause (5th year, setter,Langley, BC) had 41 assists.   Blair Bann (3rd year, Libero, Edmonton, Alta) had 13 digs.

“We have to learn how to react better and control the ball better,” says Hennelly  “and we don’t have much time to do so.”
The WolfPack host the CIS Champion Alberta Golden Bears for two matches next weekend (Nov 14 and 15).  UBC entertains Regina next weekend.
