WOLFPACK MENS VOLLEYBALL AT HIGHEST CIS RANKING YET

For immediate release:  January 20, 2009

Kamloops—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack  Men’s volleyball team has risen dramatically in the most recent CIS top 10 rankings.   The WolfPack, who have yet to lose this calendar year, have moved from ninth spot all the way up to sixth.

WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly says “I think it is nice to move up and reflects a great weekend that the guys put together. We still have 2 tough weekends ahead of us on the road. At this time of year rankings are important, but placement in our league going into play offs is more important. I hope we can maintain our level of play and intensity over the last 2 week ends. “

The defending CIS and Canada West champion Alberta Golden Bears remain in the spot they have occupied since the beginning of the season: First.  Laval and Calgary are still second and third.  The rest of the top five consist of Dalhousie at number four followed by McMaster in fifth.  Dalhousie and McMaster switched positions from last week.

Other Canada West teams in the top 10: Winnipeg has moved from sixth to seventh,  Trinity Western has moved from 10 th to eighth. They are the next opponents for the WolfPack this coming weekend in Langley.  Brandon, who lost twice to TRU have fallen to ninth position.  UBC is 10 th.
