For immediate Release: October 26, 2008

Nanaimo: It was another classic battle in a great rivalry.  The Capilano University Blues and the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack needed extra time to decide the 2008 BC College Athletic Association Championship.  When it was said and done, the teams needed an overtime period.  Capilano coming out on top by a score of 3-1.

“I was proud with how well the boys played,” said WolfPack co-head coach Sean Wallace.  ‘The game unfolded the way I thought it would, they scored in the first two minutes and then we battled back.”

Conor Doherty (2nd year, Kamloops, BC) evened  things up at the 12 minute mark.  It was his third goal of the BC CAA Playoffs.  Doherty was later named the Tournament’s best forward.
“We had plenty of chances,” Wallace explained.  “The game went back and forth. We just couldn’t capitalize.”

After the teams tied at 1 after regulation,  they went to an extra period where Capilano scored twice.  The WolfPack were playing the extra time without allstar defender Adam Dodgson (3rd year, Kamloops, BC).  Dodgson, who was named best defender of this event, took a knock at the end of regulation and was rested as a precaution.

Ethan May (1st year, Kamloops, BC) played the entire weekend in the nets for TRU in place of injured starter, Allstar Allan Connor (3rd year, Salmon Arm, BC).   Its hoped that both Connor and Dodgson will both be back in time for the CCAA Big Kahuna/Adidas Nationals which begin November 5 th at Hillside Stadium.

“We hope to meet them again, “Wallace said referring to Capilano. “We’ve had great games with them since 1984 when I played here, and it would be great to see them at Nationals.
