WOLFPACK MENS SOCCER LOSES FIRST GAME AT CCAA SOCCER NATIONALS

Kamloops---The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Men’s soccer team dropped their opening match at the 2008 Big Kahuna/Adidas CCAA Soccer Nationals. The WolfPack saw Ontario champion Algonquin College Thunder score twice in a two minute span in the second half en route to a 2-1 win.
“It was the same thing that has plagued us all season,” said WolfPack Men’s Head Coach Sean Wallace. “We had a lot of missed opportunities. We out chanced them but couldn’t finish. I don’t particularly like Algonquin, but I have to give them credit they are a quality team and they took advantage of our little let down.”
The WolfPack controlled the first half from the opening whistle. They got on the board in the 4 minute mark when Peter Loncar (1st year, Kamloops, BC) scored on a penalty kick. Loncar, named the WolfPack player of the match had many chances in the first half.
The Thunder were led by CCAA Player of the year Will Beauge (3rd year, Ottawa, Ont). He was a dominant force in the midfield.
Algonquin scored their first goal in the 67 th minute when Louie Legakis (5 th year, Ottawa, Ont) socred on a penalty kick. A minute later, Bruno Mota (1st year, Ottawa, Ont) broke through and beat TRU keeper Alan Connor, who was solid throughout the match.
The WolfPack are back on the pitch in a must win situation Thursday (Nov 6) at 6 pm against Concordia of Alberta. “Im appealing to the people of Kamloops to come out and support us” says Wallace, who is willing to buy tickets himself to get people inside Hillside Stadium “Tonite, the Ontario women’s team (Humber) were louder than our fans”.
Algonquin plays their second match Friday at 6 pm against Concordia
