WOLFPACK MENS BASKETBALL LOSE TO DINOS

Kamloops BC—“Its no wonder they are one of the best teams in Canada.” That’s all that Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Men’s basketball coach Thom Gillespie following his team being defeated 103-57 on home court by the University of Calgary Dinos.
The Dinos (3-1) jumped out to a 10 point lead after the first quarter, but the pesky WolfPack (now 1-3) limited them to a one point quarter advantage in the second.
“We were pretty pleased with our first half in general, “said Gillespie. “We didn’t play with a lot of confidence in the first quarter. Second quarter we played great. In the third quarter, we started and had some opportunities but couldn’t convert. The momentum went right to them and they started to make some shots and it snowballed from there.”
The Dinos were led by 4 th year forward Robbie Sihota (Calgary, Alta). He had 24 points. guard Tyler Fidler (2nd year, Calgary, Alta) had 16 .
“ I was happy with our energy and our effort tonite and this weekend., “said Dinos bench boss Dan Vanhooren. “We dropped a game in Winnipeg that we thought we should have won. This weekend was just about working hard. Im really thrilled with how we reacted.”
Vanhooren felt his club was really balanced. “The key for us is just being focused every night. We need every guy bringing the thing they can provide. Tonite we did that. Our team is really coming together. The roadtrip was really good for us that way. Hopefully it can continue when we go home.”
4 th year forward Jeff Friesen led the way offensively for TRU. The Duncan, BC Native had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Matt Pierce (2nd year, Winnipeg, Man) had 15 points—13 in the first half..
For the WolfPack, its back to the drawing board—preparing to head to Manitoba to play the Bison on Nov 7 th and Winnipeg November 8 th. Calgary has its home opener against Brandon and Regina next weekend (Nov 7-8)
FOUL SHOTS: Saturday was United Way Night. Over a thousand dollars was raised for the Thompson Nicola Cariboo United Way.
