WOLFPACK WOMENS SOCCER PLAYER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK IN BC CAA FOR THIRD TIME THIS YEAR

For Immediate Release: October 22, 2008

Kamloops:    For the third time this season, a member of the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Women’s soccer team has been named Player of the Week.  For the Week of October 13-19 th, it was 2nd year  forward Heather Lloyd (Kamloops, BC).

Heather has been playing soccer since she was 4. She played her high school soccer at Valleyview Secondary in Kamloops, and is now in her second year at TRU. She hopes to be a vital player of the WolfPack for years to come.
Heather was a constant threat in Saturday’s game by testing the UNBC defense with her quickness. Even though she failed to score on several break-away chances, she did create space for her forward partner to capitalize and score the insurance goal.

On Sunday, Heather came in the game in the second half, with the score deadlocked at 0-0.  She then went on to score 3 quick goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half, to put the game away and secure the win for the WolfPack, and lifting Heather to second place in the scoring race with 9 goals on the season. TRU would win 4-0.

Heather and her teammates now enter the BCCAA Championships at Nanaimo as the number one seed to face long time rivals, Capilano University.  The other WolfPack Players named Player of the week earlier this year were Shannen Meyer (3rd year, Kamloops, BC)  and Maddy Reid (1st year, Kamloops, BC)
