WOLFPACK TO HAVE BEER SALES AT NEXT VOLLEYBALL WEEKEND

For Immediate Release: January 8, 2009
Kamloops: For the first time in their short history, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack will be selling beer at their home games. Athletic Director Ken Olynyk has announced that the WolfPack will be selling the beverage at their CIS Men’s and Women’s Volleyball matches on Saturday, January 17th.
“It’s something that we will do on a one time, trial basis,” says Olynyk. “We would like to see if this brings more people into our games. If it’s successful we might do it on a more regular basis next year. We’d like to thank the City of Kamloops for allowing us to try this.” He added that beer is sold in many other CIS venues.
Beer will be sold in the North end Stands at the Tournament Capital on the night chosen. Those who want to buy the beverage will have to show Identification and will be given a wrist band. Fans will only be allowed two beers and will have to sit in the designated area.
The WolfPack will be bringing in extra security for the evening to make sure that everything run smoothly. The Brandon University Bobcats will be the opposition that weekend.
It will be a special night on the 17 th as the WolfPack Men’s team will honor their lone graduating player, outside hitter Andy Haley of Stony Plain, Alberta. There will also be a break dancing demonstration from TRU World between the second and third set of the Men’s match.
It’s not known how much the beer will cost. It will be distributed out of one of the meeting rooms at the Tournament Capital Center.
