WOLFPACK BASEBALL SPLITS IN FIRST TWO IN NANAIMO

Nanaimo, BC--The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball teams winning streak was snapped at five this afternoon in Canadian College Baseball Conference action in Nanaimo. The WolfPack dropped the first end of a doubleheader with the Vancouver Island University Mariners 5-4.
However, the WolfPack came back to start a new winning streak by shutting out the Mariners 4-0 in the night cap.
The first game saw TRU score two runs in the first inning and add a single in the third to take a 3-0 lead. But that was erased in the bottom half of the fifth when starting and losing pitcher Bryan Mahon surrendered three runs.
The 'Pack added a single in the sixth to take the lead but the Mariners countered with two of their own for the victory.
Mahon (rhp,Fruitvale,BC) saw his spring record dip to 2 and 3. He surrendered four hits and gave up three earned runs with four strikeouts. Mike Tomlinson (Campbell River, BC) inserted as the DH was 2 for 3 with a stolen base for TRU. Greg Cros (infielder/pitcher Montpellier, France) was 1 for 4 with a double 2 RBI. Kyle Dhanani (shortstop, Blaine, Wash) was 1-4 with a double and an RBI.
in the second game, it was scoreless until the third inning when the WolfPack scored two runs. they added single runs in the fifth and ninth innings. they had five hits in the ballgame. Jordan Broatch (Rhp, White Rock, BC) continues to be the ace of the staff this spring. He went to 5 and 2 with the complete game shutout. It was a two hitter with 2 walks and nine strikeouts
Ben Bradford (infielder, Kamloops, BC) was 2-4 with a run scored. Dhanani was 1-4 with two RBI. Matt Walker (Bowen Island, BC) had an rbi on a sacrifice fly.
The two teams close out the series tommorrow. TRU will throw Mike Tomlinson in the second game and Danny Moore in the first. TRU's Record is now 7-4 in league play
