Lethbridge, Alta--The streak continues for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team. For the third straight year, the 'Pack are into the championship final of the Canadian College Baseball Conference. The WolfPack went through the round robin portion of the 2009 CCBC League Championship Tournament undefeated.

TRU took down the Vancouver Island University Mariners 7-5 in their final round robin game. The WolfPack finish at 3 and 0 and are guaranteed a spot in the final Saturday (May 16) at 1 pm MDT. The Mariners finish a 1 and 2. That is good enough for third spot and a date with the defending league champs and host team, the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs on Friday night (530 pm MDT).

The WolfPack scored three runs in the bottom half of the first inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. After VIU tallied twice to even the score after two and a half innings, TRU added two more in their half of that inning and two more in the bottom of the fourth inning. VIU scored their other two runs in the top half of the fifth.

The Mariners actually outslugged the WolfPack 10-6 in the game and committed three errors to the WolfPack's none.

Rycroft, Alberta native Morgan Zahara was the winning pitcher. The rookie righthander went five innings giving up nine hits, five earned runs, had three walks and two strikeouts. Jordan Lane (RHP, Kamloops, BC) came on in relief to earn the save.

TRU was led at the plate by Ben Bradford. The catcher/outfielder from Kamloops, BC went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and 2 RBI.. Matt Walker (outfielder/pitcher Bowen Island, BC) was 1 for 2 with a double, two stolen bases and an RBI. Doug Clark (outfielder, Prince George, BC) was 1 for 2 with and RBI.

FOUL TIPS: The WolfPack are likely to go with their ace, Jordan Broatch (RHP, White Rock, BC) in Saturday's final. Last year, TRU lost to PBA 4-3 in the final, giving up the winning run in the final inning. TRU is 1-4 against PBA this season. That lone win coming in this tournament on Thursday. They are 4 and 1 now against VIU.
