WOLFPACK UNBEATEN AFTER FIRST DAY OF CCBC LEAGUE TOURNEY

Lethbridge, Alta—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack continued their dominance over one team and exercised a ghost in another as they went unbeaten after the opening day of play at the Canadian College Baseball Conference League Final Tournament . The WolfPack won for the 12 th straight time over Okanagan College Cubs (12-3) and then took the defending league champion Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs for the first time in five outings (7-3).
The opening game saw TRU score six runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take a lead their would never relinquish. The ‘Pack hammered out 15 hits during the ball game scoring singles in the third, four and fifth innings and adding three more in the sixth. Bryan Mahon (RHP, Fruitvale, BC) tossed a complete game to notch the victory. He walked two and struck out one.
CCBC First Team All-Star Kyle Dhanani (shortstop, Blaine, Wash)proved why on the day. In this game he went 3 for 4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI. Ben Bradford (outfield, Kamloops, BC) was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI. Matt Walker (pitcher/infielder Bowen Island, BC) was 2 for 3 as well with a double and an RBI.
In the second game, The WolfPack jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two innings, scoring a deuce in the second. After the Dawgs tied things up with three runs in their half of the third, TRU scored twice in both the fifth and sixth innings. They pounded out 12 hits in that game in comparison to four for the homeside. PBA also committed three errors in the ball game.
Danny Moore (RHP, Victoria, BC) showed why he was a CCBC 2nd Team All-Star. He tossed a complete game four hitter with two strikeouts and two walks.
Dhanani was 3 for 4 with a homer , a double, a stolen base and 3 RBI. First baseman Dillon Morgan (Camp Verde, Arizona) was 2 for 2 with a sacrifice fly. CCBC First Team All-Star Scott Nevison (outfield, North Vancouver, BC) went 2 for 4 with a double and a stolen base while Walker chipped in with a 1 for 3 performance and a double.
TRU plays their final round robin game Friday at 2 pm (MDT) against Vancouver Island University. The Mariners beat Okanagan College 2-1 in 9 innings in their first game. They then lost to the Prairie Baseball Academy 12-7.
A win by TRU would put them into the Championship Final Saturday (May 16) at 1 pm (MDT).
