WOLFPACK BASEBALL SCORE BIG AGAINST CALGARY

Kamloops, BC---The runs came early and often for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team on Saturday (April 4). The WolfPack hit the double digits twice as they swept both ends of a Canadian College Baseball Conference doubleheader with the University of Calgary Dinos. The scores at Norbrock Stadium were 12-2 in five innings in the first game and 11-1 for TRU in the second.
The first game saw TRU erase an early 1-0 deficit scoring five times themselves in that opening inning. they then added three more in the second to go up 8-1. After the Dinos made it 8-2 in the top half of the fourth inning, TRU then counted twice more to go up 10-1 and added five more runs inthe bottom of the fifth inning.
The WolfPack pounded out 11 hits in that first game.
Bryan Mahon (RHP, Fruitvale, BC) went all 5 innings for the victory. He had two strikeouts on a five hitter, one of the two runs he surrendered was earned.
Scott Nevison (Utilityman, North Vancouver, BC) was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Yoshi Nakamura (Cather/Outfielder Yokohama, Japan) was 2-2 with a run scored, a double and 2 RBI. Mike Tomlinson (P/OF Campbell River, BC) was 1-2 with a run scored, a double and an RBI.
in the second game, the WolfPack were up 1-0 after one. and led 4-1 after four innings of play. THey added a single in the fifth, two more in the seventh and four runs in the 8 th. TRU had 14 hits and no errors. Calgary mustered seven hits and two errors.
Danny Moore (RHP, Victoria, BC) pitched five innings to record the victory. Moore gave up six hits, one earned run, a walk and three strikeouts. He was replaced by Jordan Lane (RHP, Kamloops, BC), who tossed the other three innings. Lane gave up only one hit while walking three and striking out three.
Shortstop Kyle Dhanani (Blaine, Wash) was the big man at the plate. He went 3 for 4 at the dish with three runs scored. Dhanani had two triples and a pair of RBI.
Nevison continued his hot hitting with a 2 for 3 performance. The native of North Vancouver, BC had two runs scored, hit a double and a triple.
Rookie outfielder Jimmy Semeschuk (Whitehorse, YT) had his best game as a WolfPack. He was 2 for 2 with a run scored and a triple. Mike Tomlinson was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
The WolfPack are now 14-11 overall this Spring and have a league record of 4 and 3.
They close out the weekend series with the Dinos with a 10 am showdown (Sun April 5) at NorBRock Stadium).
Next week, they host the Okanagan College Cubs, Wednesday April 8 th at Norbrock before hitting the road for their first road trip of the CCBC season. They visit the Vancouver Island University Mariners in Nanaimo, BC
