Kamloops, BC--Its on!. The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack have finally been able to play a home game in 2009. The WolfPack opened their 2009 Canadian College Baseball Conference Regular Season with a split in a doubleheader with the defending league champions: Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs of Lethbridge Alberta.

PBA would go onto score three runs in the sixth and five more runs in the seventh. The WolfPack scored their other run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

4th year right hander Mike Tomlinson (Campbell River, BC) took the loss. He went five innings giving up five hits. He also surrendered three runs (one of them earned). Tomlinson struck out three and walked one. He gave way to Matt Walker (RHP, Bowen Island, BC). Walker hurled two innings and gave up six hits.

Bryan Burston (catcher, Kelowna, BC) was 1 for 3 with a run scored. Kyle Dhanani (shortstop, Blaine, Wash) was 1 for 4 with two stolen bases. Greg Cros (oufielder/pitcher Montpellier, France) was 1-2 with a walk, a sacrifice fly and an RBI.

In the night cap, Jordan Broatch (RHP, White Rock, BC) tossed a complete game shutout. He went nine innings, giving up seven hits. He walked two and struck out five.

TRU jumped to a 1-0 lead after the first inning. They added four runs in the sixth and three more in the 8th inning. Dhanani led the way at the plate. He was 3 for 5, with a run scored, 2 RBI and a stolen base.

Ben Bradford (catcher/outfielder Kamloops, BC) was 2 for 4 with 2 stolen bases and two runs scored. Burston was 1 for 4 with a double.

Both teams are 1 and 1 on the season. They wind up their four game set with a doubleheader Sunday morning (11 am and 1 pm) at the Canada Games field.
