Sunday DOG DAY AFTERNOON FOR WOLFPACK BASEBALL

Kamloops, BC--They say August has the dog days. For the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack, Sunday March 29 th was a Dawg Day. Dawg as in the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs.
The Lethbridge, Alberta based team, the defending Canadian College Baseball Conference champions showed why as they swept a pair of games from the WolfPack at the Canada Games Field. PBA won the first game 5-0 and took the night cap 9-4 to take three of four weekend games from the host TRU ball club.
In the first game, PBA scored four runs in the seventh inning in the victory. Bryan Mahon (4th year, RHP, Fruitvale BC) went the distance for the defeat. He gave up 10 hits and all five runs (four of them earned). He struck out one and walked one.
In the night cap, the Dawgs jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, scoring four times in the top of the first. The WolfPack finally got on the board with a single run in the 3rd but by that time: they were trailing 7-0.
TRU added three runs in the fifth to close the cap to 7-4. But PBA added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Danny Moore (RHP, Victoria,BC) was tagged with the loss. In his three innings of work, he surrendered seven hits, gave up seven runs--four of them earned. He struck out one batter and walked another. Jordan Lane (RHP, Kamloops, BC) came on and pitched the next five innings. He gave up two earned runs, seven hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Shortstop Kyle Dhanani (Blaine, Wash) was the big man offensively for TRU. He was 3 for 5 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base.
PBA goes to 3 and 1 on the season, TRU is 1 and 3 and meet up with the Okanagan College Cubs in their next game (Wednesday April 1) in Kelowna. The WolfPack's next home games are next weekend (April 4-5) against the University of Calgary Dinos. They hope to be back in their home park of Norbrock Stadium for the first time in 2009
