WOLFPACK BASEBALL GOES 10 WITH GATEWAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Mesa, Arizona--Walking in the winning run isn't the most colorful way to win a baseball game. But the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack will take it. With the bases loaded in the top of the 10 th inning, shortstop Kyle Dhanani (Blaine Wash) was walked to force in the winning run. The WolfPack won their third game of Spring Training 2009---10-9 over the hometown Gateway Community College Geckos.
"We battled back to win this one," said TRU head coach Ray Chadwick. "Gateway was up by two until we score scored twice in the top of the ninth to tie it."
Matt Walker (RHP,Bowen Island, BC), the fifth of six pitchers was credited for the win. He came into the game with the bases loaded in the 8 th inning and one out to get the 'Pack out of the inning. He then went to the mound in the 9 th and retired three straight Gecko batters to end the inning. Joe Cameron (Victoria, BC) came on in relief to notch his second save of the pre season.
TRU, who scored three runs in the second, three more in the fifth, two in the ninth and one in the 10 th inning improved to 3 and 5 on their Arizona Trip. They close things out Friday night (6 pm, Feb 20) against Chandler/Gilbert in GIlbert Arizona.
Offensively in this one, right fielder Mike Tomlinson (Campbell River, BC) was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Kalen Kirkpatrick (infielder, Prince George, BC) was 1 for 4 with two runs scored and 2 RBI. Brock Stewart(catcher/OF, Penticton, BC) was 1 for 2 with two runs scored, three walks and two stolen bases.
The WolfPack's first home game is their league opener, March 21 st at Norbrock staduim as they entertain the Prairie Baseball Academy and the Kwantlen Polytechnic Eagles.
