BASEBALL BEATS OCC IN EXHIB ITION

For immediate release:  April 23, 2009

Kelowna, BC—Four runs in the fourth inning propelled the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack to a 12-6 victory over the home town Okanagan College Cubs in Canadian College Baseball Conference  exhibition action Wednesday night (April 22nd) at Elks Stadium.

The WolfPack rallied from a 3-0 deficit. The Cubs scored three runs in the bottom of the first.  Okanagan College tied things up in their half of the fourth and scored two more in the bottom half of the fifth to go up 6-4.  But the WolfPack rallied with a single run in the sixth, two more in the seventh and two more in the ninth to secure the victory.

TRU had 12 runs on 10 hits and two errors.  The Cubs scored six runs on six hits and two errors.
Kyle Dhanani (Shortstop, Blaine, Wash)  was 2 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI and a stolen base. Chris Clark (Centerfielder/Pitcher, Prince George BC) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.  Ben Bradford (Catcher/Outfielder, Kamloops, BC)  was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI.

Jordan Lane (RHP, Kamloops, BC) came on in relief and notched the win.  He went 3 innings, surrendering a hit, walking two and striking out 4.

The two teams return to league action this Saturday and Sunday (April 25-26) at Norbrock Stadium.  Both doubleheaders begin at 1 pm.
