BABICHUK OUT

Kamloops-The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Badminton team has suffered a major setback. The teams leading player has been injured.
Garrett Babichuk (2nd year, Kelowna, BC) suffered an injury this weekend playing at a tournament this weekend at theJack Underhill Grand Prix Tournament at the Vancouver Racquet Club. ‘I was jumping and landed on it sideways”, He said this afternoon. “ I spent about three hours at Vancouver hospital getting it examined and x-rayed. “
This is the second time that Babichuk, the TRU Male Athlete of the Year for 2007-08 has twisted the same ankle. He is expected to miss about 3 to 4 weeks.
“This is a major blow to our team,’ says WolfPack Head Coach Brad Pape. “Being the
top player on our team this will certainly be a setback.”
The WolfPack’s next tournament is November 15 and 16 th at Capilano University and Langara College. TRU finished in a tie for third place at the first event of the year earlier this month. Babichuk was third in singles and fourth in “A” flight doubles with teammate Andy Chu (5 th year, Tiawan).
