PERRIN WINS PREMIERS ATHLETIC AWARD

Kamloops, BC--- Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Men’s Volleyball player Gord Perrin (2nd year, outside hitter, Creston, BC) is one of three athletes tied to Kamloops who have won Premier’s Achievement awards.

The awards were announced in conjunction with the one year mark before BC hosts the Winter Olympics.

Perrin was the 2008 Canada West Rookie of the Year. He also was named to the CIS All-Rookie team. Going along with that was his stellar performance as a member of Canada’s Junior National Men’s Volleyball Team. He was named the top blocker at the NORCECA Qualifying Tournament in El Salvador. He’ll be leading Canada into the World Championships this summer.

This might not be the only honor given to Perrin. He is in the running for the Sport BC University Athlete of the Year. That’ll be handed out March 24 th in Richmond.

Other athletes with ties to Kamloops who won the Premier’s award are: Speed skater Jessica Hewitt (a member of the National team) and Hockey Player Kathleen McDonald (Member of Team BC at the Canada Winter games and invited to Hockey Canada’s Under 18 evaluation program.).
