WOLFPACK SWEEP MARINERS TO TAKE 3 OF 4 FROM VIU

Nanaimo, BC--Like a child harvesting chocolate eggs, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team gathered up a basketful of victories on Easter Sunday. The WolfPack raised their Canadian College Baseball Conference record to 9 and 4 after taking both ends of a doubleheader with the hometown Vancouver Island University Mariners. The scores were 7-0 in the first game and 5-3 in the second. The WolfPack took three of four weekend games with the Mariners.

In the first game, rookie right hander Danny Moore (Victoria, BC) pitched a complete game shutout. he gave up three hits, walked one and struck out four. Moore is now 4 and 1 on the season.

TRU jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. They added another deuce in the third and sixth innings with a single run coming in the fifth.

Kyle Dhanani (shortstop, Blaine, Wash) continued his hot weekend. he was 2-3 with a run scored, a double and an RBI.

Scott Nevison (infielder, North Vancouver, BC) was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI.

In the last game, Mike Tomlinson (rhp, Campbell River, BC), pitching in likely his last game with the WolfPack in front of friends and family on Vancouver Island, notched his third victory of the year. Tomlinson,now 3 and 2 went nine innings giving up eight hits, three runs (two earned) with 13 strikeouts and two walks.

Dhanani was 3 for 4 scoring three runs, a double and a home run and having three RBI. Dhanani now has 9 doubles, a team leading three homers and a team leading 20 RBI.

Nevison was 3 for 5 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

The WolfPack have the week off before heading to Lethbridge to take on the defending CCBC Champion Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs on Saturday and Sunday (April 18 and 19)
