WOLFPACK HAMMER CUBS IN FIRST OF TWO WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADERS

Kamloops, BC--If the Okanagan College Cubs had any doubt about who's baseball park Norbrock Stadium is, they had those questions answered in spades on Saturday (April 25). The Cubs, who have never beaten the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack since they entered the Canadian College Baseball Conference this season, were beaten soundly twice by the homeside.
In the first game, the 'Pack needed only 5 innings to hammer the Cubs 14-2. The nightcap saw TRU come away with a 6-3 victory.
Danny Moore (RHP, Victoria, BC) pitched a complete game to notch the victory. He surrendered only two hits, while walking three and striking out four.He is now 5 and 2 on the year.
TRU gave up a run in the top of the first, to square things up when they got to bat for the first time in the game. they added four runs in the second, nine in the third and then six more in the 5 th inning. TRU had 12 hits in that opening game and only one error. OCC countered with two hits and one error.
Kyle Dhanani (shortstop, Blaine, Wash) continues to have a hot spring. Dhanani was 2 for 3 with two doubles, two runs scored and three runs batted in.He now had a team leading 25 RBI.
Brian Burston (catcher, Kelowna, BC) was 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Dillon Morgan (first base, Camp Verde Arizona) seems to have recovered from a knee injury. Morgan was 2 for 2 as well with a pair of runs scored and two RBI.
in the night cap, TRU scored one in the first and two in the second to jump to a 3-0 lead. After the Cubs scored a single in the fourth, TRU added three in the sixth inning. OCC added two in the top of the ninth inning. They had three hits in the ball game and three errors. TRU had six runs on 11 hits and two errors.
Mike Tomlinson (RHP, Campbell River, BC) was the winner.He went seven innings surrendering a hit, a run, two walks and recorded six strikeouts. Tomlinson moved above the .500 mark on the season, improving his record to 4 and 3.
Mike Juarez (RHP, Calgary, Alta) came out of the bull pen and pitched the final two innings. He gave up two earned runs and a walk.
Yoshi Nakamura (catcher/outfielder Yokohama Japan) was 2 for 3 with two doubles. Burston had another strong outing with a two run double, going 2 for 4 at the dish. Adam Halland (infielder, Kamloops, BC) was 1 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI.
The two teams wind up their weekend series Sunday (April 26) with another doubleheader. The start times are 11 am and 1 pm.
The WolfPack are now 11 and 7 in league play while OCC falls to 8 and 6.
