WOLFPACK BASEBALL EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO EIGHT

Calgary, Alta--You have to hand it to Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball head coach Ray Chadwick, he knows how to motivate his players. With the 2009 Canadian College Baseball Conference season into its final two weeks, Chadwick has his team on quite a roll.
The WolfPack extended their winning streak to eight games (league and exhibition) as they took the first two of four tilts with the hometown University of Calgary Dinos at Burns Field.
In both cases, TRU battled back from early deficits to win. The scores were 4-3 in the first game and 13-3 in the second.
In the first game, the teams exchanged runs in the first inning before Calgary went up 2-1 after two. They WolfPack drew even in their half of the fourth inning. The Dinos regained their lead in the bottom half of the fifth. TRU scored twice in 6th to come away with the victory. The Dinos actually out hit the WolfPack 8-5 in the contest. TRU with one error to the U of C's two.
Victoria native Danny Moore (RHP) continued his solid rookie campaign. He pitched five innings to record his sixth victory against one defeat. Moore surrendered seven hits, gave up three runs (two of them earned), struck out two and walked two.
Matt Walker (RHP, Bowen Island, BC) came in for the final two innings to record his fourth save of the spring. He gave up one hit.
First baseman Dillon Morgan (Camp Verde, Arizona) led the way for TRU at the plate. Morgan was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Adam Halland (infielder, Kamloops, BC) was 1 for 3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored.
The second game saw the homeside up 2-1 after the first. TRU tied things up in the top of the third and then went on to score twice in innings four and five to go up 6-2. A five run eighth inning coupled with two in the top of the ninth accounted for the rest of the WolfPack runs. Calgary got one in their half of the ninth inning but it was too late.
Jordan Broatch (RHP, White Rock, BC) pitched seven strong innings to record win number six for him this spring. He has two defeats. Broatch gave up three hits, two runs (both earned), walked one and struck out two more.
Kyle Dhanani (shortstop, Blaine, Wash) was 4 for 5 at the plate. He had a stolen base and 3 RBI. That gives him a team leading 29 for the spring.
Brock Stewart (cather/outfielder, Penticton, BC) was 1 for 2 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases. He also had an RBI. Tyler Lowey (infielder/RHP Toronto, Ont) was also 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI.
The two teams wrap up their series Sunday at Burns Field in Calgary. Game times are 11 am and 1 pm MDT.
The WolfPack's spring record is now 28 and 15 overall.
