For Immediate Release: February 15, 2009

Kamloops, BC: Four medals. That's what the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Badminton team has to show for itself after hosting the 2009 BC College Athletic Association Badminton Finals.  Brad Pape's team came away with two silvers and two bronzes. As a result, they could be sending four athletes to the Canadian College Athletic Association Championships next month in Ontario.

For the second year in a row, the men's doubles team of Andy Chu (5th year, Taiwan) and Garrett Babichuk (2nd year, Kelowna, BC) won the silver. they were joined by Ming Wong (3rd year, Kamloops, BC) and Marlee Mertens (2nd year, Salmon Arm BC) in women's doubles. There is a chance that the four could be going to the CCAA National championships, it'll depend on which province gets to send a wildcard team.

The other medal winners from TRU was Noah Woods (2nd year, Kamloops, BC). He finished third in men's singles. And Alex Perkin (2nd year, Kamloops, BC) and his partner Whitney MacKenny (3rd year, Port Alberni, BC),who were third in mixed doubles. The other WolfPack result was Kia Lidster (1st year, Kamloops, BC), who was fourth in women's singles.

On Saturday (Feb 14), TRU finished second in the team competition and wound up fourth in the overall season standings.

The CCAA championships are going this year at Humber College in Ontario
