The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack have stayed close to home in the signing of their fourth recruit for the 2008-09 CIS Season.  And again, Coach Nevin Gleddie has  secured the services of a Guard.  6.0, 170 pound  Hudson Naylor of Kamloops has signed a letter of intent to attend TRU next school year.

“Hudson is another player who can play the 1 and 2,” says Gleddie  “He is deceptively athletic and I believe will be able to make an impact at both ends of the floor. The bottom line is Hudson can flat out score and that is what he’ll be expected to do right of the gate’.

Naylor did a lot of scoring for his Sa-hali Sabres this year, leading them to a berth in the Provincial “AA” Boys  Basketball Championships .  “The team needed me to score, that was my role, “ he says referring to his season . “With so many players being able to score at the CIS level, I see myself more of a facilitator on the floor, helping with the transition game.”

“He has great jumping ability and can handle the ball extremely well”  states Sean Garvey.  The former UCC and TRU player was Naylors high school coach the last two seasons  “He had multiple 20 point fourth quarters this year.”   Garvey, who played with the Sun Demons/WolfPack from 2001-2006 compares Naylor’s abilities to that of former teammate Skye Buck (Clearwater BC).  Garvey feels though that Naylor may be a bit more polished.

Naylor spurned offers from UNBC, SAIT and Langara to stay at home. “I’m glad that my parents and friends can see me develop with a program that will only get better.”

He is familiar with the three other guards that Gleddie has signed during the off season.  “I played with Liam (Wear of Vernon) and Mike (Conlin of Seaton) on the Regional Development team two years ago”. Says Naylor, who was a multi sport athlete.  He played on Sa-hali’s Senior Soccer team the last two years which finished third and fourth at the Provincials.   Naylor is undecided on what program he’ll enter when he starts at TRU in the Fall.
