Sports teams or staff associated with Thompson Rivers University came away with major honors as the Kamloops Sports Council handed out its awards for 2007.

The WolfPack Mens Soccer team, which captured the BC College Athletic Association Title in 2007 were named the team of the year.  The Pack won out over the Kamloops Vibe Female Hockey club and the Midget AAA RiverDogs baseball team.  Fifth year players Brad Clark and Hee Young Cheung went to the podium to accept the award on behalf of their teammates.

Sports Psychologist Dave Freeze, who works with among others, the WolfPack Womens Volleyball Team was named the Sports Person of the Year. Freeze captured the award over Kamloops Bronco President Stefen Reid and Jan Antons, who was involved in many sports including chairing the National Junior Lacrosse Championships.

The WolfPack name was uttered one other time during Saturday's (April 12) awards ceremony.  TRU Mens Soccer Coach Sean Wallace was a finalist for Coach of the Year. He was beaten out by Pat Landals of the Kamloops Target Sports Club.

Among the inductees to the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame were the 1997 Romas Under 19 Boys Soccer team. Many of whom went onto UCC and TRU to play soccer. The coach of that team is current WolfPack Soccer Team Manager, Errol Wild.
