WolfPack Baseball Team Blazing Trail to Langley

Hot on the heels of a three victory series in Arizona, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team play their first games north of the 49 th this weekend. Ray Chadwick has his crew in Langley for a pair of exhibition doubleheaders against the Blaze of the BC Premier Baseball League. All four games will be played at McLeod Park in Langley.
“The guys finished up in Arizona playing well,” says Chadwick “If we can stay that consistent, we should repeat at CCBC (Canadian College Baseball Conference) Champs.”
Chadwick is hoping to see a more improved effort on defense this weekend. The WolfPack gave up 13 unearned runs during their five Arizona games.
Righty Nic Miskin (1st year North Vancouver, BC) who won one of those three tilts in Arizona will get the start Saturday (Mar 1) afternoon for the WolfPack. 6-6 Right hander Matt Bannister (3rd year St John’s Nfld) will get the ball in the second game.
Sunday’s (Mar 2) starters are expected to be 3rd year Righthander Bryan Mahon (Trail BC) and 2nd year man Jordan Broatch (right hander, Surrey BC).
Chadwick plans to limit their innings in order to get his bullpen some work.
Langley is one of the province’s strongest premier league teams. They consistently have six or seven players who are on the National Junior team. Their prize prospect this year is thirdbaseman/catcher Brett Lawrie. Lawrie is a potential first round Major League Baseball draft pick and played for Canada’s Junior National Team last year.
The WolfPack don’t play a home game until March 29 th when they entertain the University of Calgary.
