Athletic Scholarship Breakfast
Support student athletes
A keynote speaker (TBA) highlights this year's event on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 6:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Grand Hall in the Campus Activity Centre.
This buffet breakfast raises awareness about WolfPack varsity teams and brings in funding for athlete scholarships.
The event kicks off 2017’s fundraising campaign for student assistance, and we are projecting attendance at 400 people. Those who would like to donate but cannot attend (and we appreciate that very much) have the opportunity to donate using our online form.
About WolfPack athletics
Thompson Rivers University has over 170 student athletes competing on eight teams in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) including basketball, volleyball, soccer, swimming and cross-country. Additionally, TRU lends support to the varsity club programs of men’s baseball as well as the TRU Cheer Team. Being a competitive student athlete, while attending classes to earn a university degree is challenging. Student athletes are required to maintain a rigorous practice and game schedule which includes significant travel, all while maintaining a full time course load. Student athletes depend on scholarship and bursary funding to help offset the cost of tuition and books, as they have little or no time for part-time jobs. The WolfPack sports teams play an important role in creating campus spirit and a strong athletic program enhances the experience of all students attending TRU.
Guests are community leaders, university faculty and administrators, local business owners and managers, and individuals who have been invited by the Sports Task Force and foundation society members.
Tables at the event are for 10 people. The cost of a table is $1,500 or you may purchase a breakfast ticket for $100 per individual. Purchasing a table of 10 gives a number of additional benefits over the single price of a ticket. TRU will support with a matching grant up to $75,000. All proceeds go to support our student athletes at TRU.
