Visual Arts

Studio and Art History courses explore practical aspects of art-making within the context of history of art and contemporary ideas about art and its role in society. Painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and other studio areas will allow you to become involved with art making and exhibition practices in our Visual Arts Diploma program, BFA degree program or within the TRU Bachelor of Arts degree. We also work closely with the Kamloops Art Gallery in sponsoring visiting artists program which includes lectures and workshops by artists from across Canada. The 26000 sq. ft. Visual Art facility includes four darkrooms and a large lighting studio; two printmaking studios for screen printing, lithography and intaglio; a large painting studio for 1st and 2nd year students; an open studio for 3rd and 4th year students; as well as a large drawing studio, a design room, a sculpture studio, a ceramics studio, a workshop, a resource room and an art gallery.
