Field School in East/Central Europe (ANTH403)
Offered since 1993, the Field School in East/Central Europe provides an opportunity to engage in supervised ethnographic fieldwork in a number of exciting locations off the beaten path.
Usually, it spans the month of May, and the itinerary includes urban and rural communities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Bosnia & Hercegovina, and Montenegro. Detailed information may be found at www.tru.ca/europe.
TRU Archaeology Field School (ANTH306)
The nine credit archaeology field school comprises two courses, Anth 306-6 "Summer Field Training in Archaeology," and Anth 411-3 "Prehistory of a Special Area in the New World." Students undertake six weeks of fieldwork and laboratory analysis at an archaeological site, normally in British Columbia.
The course provides students with hand-on training in archaeological survey, mapping, excavation and recording techniques, as well as lab analysis, interpretation of artifact and faunal remains, and reporting.
