Master of Environmental Studies Program
The Geography Major Program at TRU emphasizes work in human geography and specifically in areas of cultural/historical, environmental and urban geography. Course work in these areas will appeal to students interested in graduate work in human geography or careers in urban and rural planning, law, resource development and regulation, archives and musems, education, parks and government. Students must normally declare their Geography major before entering the third year of the B.A. program. All candidates must meet with a Major Program Advisor in geography to plan their course selection and to ensure that all B.A. degree requirements will be met.
First and Second Years
**21 credits as follows:
- Human (6 credits): 119, 120
- Physical (6 credits): 112, 122
- Techniques (3 credits): 270
- Electives (6 credits): 205, 210, 212, 222, 223, 274, or 275
Third and Fourth Years
** 30 credits of Geography courses numbered 300 or 400 (of which at least 3 shall be at the 400 level), as follows:
- A minimum of nine credits from courses on Key Themes in Geography to be chosen as follows:
At least 3 credits from each thematic area:
Cultural/Historical: Geography: 320, 327, 328
Urban/Economic: Geography 321, 350, 357, 361
Environmental: Geography 304, 305, 307, 310, 319
- Three credits from 400 level seminar courses.
- 18 additional credits
First and Second Years:
**12 credits as follows:
- Human (6 credits): 119, 120, 210, 222
- Physical (6 credits): 112, 122, 205
Third and Fourth Years
** 18credits of Geography courses numbered 300 or 400 (of which at least 3 shall be at the 400 level), as follows:
- Regional Geography (3 credits): 390
- 6 credits from teh following: 304, 305, 307, 310, 319, 320, 327, 328, 350, 357, 361
- 9 additional credits of Geography numbered 300 and above
