Matt Keelty was a service learning student fulfilling his course requirements while living in Mombasa, Kenya from May 2006 to August 2006. During this period, he was an English teacher at Mikindari primary school, travelled about East Africa, and undertook initial research for - "ESL within the context of neo-colonialism, and the reaffirmation of hegemonic power relations".
