Unique Learning Opportunities
Canadian Studies faculty value opportunities for broadening the traditional models for student learning. To that end, we foster student participation in Study Abroad and Service Learning :
Study Abroad
Having studied, taught, and lectured abroad, Canadian Studies faculty have first-hand experience in this area. We encourage Canadian Studies students to learn more about the TRU exchanges with Germany, Australia and Sweden:
Germany: TRU currently offers its students the opportunity to study at Erfurt University, Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, and The University of Cologne. These exchanges are open to students in Arts and Humanities. Contact Anne Gagnon or Ginny Ratsoy for more information.
Sweden : Halmstad University offers an exchange opportunity. For more information contact the Study Abroad Program at 828-5140.
Service Learning
Service Learning 300 and 400 provide students with faculty supervised opportunities for civic participation and community involvement. Canadian Studies faculty have supervised several sections of this course, involving students in such activities as orienting International and Exchange students to Canadian culture, tutoring in the TRU Writing Centre, organizing an international conference, and working in various capacities with local arts organizations. Anne Gagnon or
