Open Learning

TRU Open Learning (TRU-OL) is dedicated to providing learning opportunities that are tailored to students' personal needs. Study where you want, when you want. Our distance courses are available throughout British Columbia and Canada.  

We have a team of highly qualified advisors and Open Learning Faculty Members to assist you. TRU campus students can combine Open Learning and campus credits and apply them to credentials offered through either branch of Thompson Rivers University. TRU Arts offers four majors programs through the Open Learning Bachelor of Arts program: English, History, Psychology, and Sociology. We also collaborate with other educational providers to offer Bachelors in Fine Arts and Music. We also offer flexible Bachelor of Arts programs called the BA General Program and the BA General Studies. In the BA General Program students choose to concentrate in two areas of students. Students can combine disciplines in the Arts or combine a Arts focus with Business or Science courses. The BA General Studies option is less restrictive. It allows students to create their own interdisciplinary pathway through courses in the Arts and related faculties (Business, Science, Health, etc.)

Many Arts students have also chosen to complete a Bachelor of General Studies. This is our most flexible educational pathway to a Bachelor's degree.
