David Edwards B.A., M.A. (Akron), Cert. Ed. (U. Vic.), Ph.D. (Kent State)

David Edwards is the founder of the UCC Theatre Arts Program. He has been active in theatre as a teacher, actor and director for over 25 years, and has taught Theatre Arts courses at universities in both Canada and the United States. David takes particular pride in directing Actors Workshop production, and his love for teaching resulted in his winning a Master Teacher Award in 1991.

Jim Hoffman B.A., M.Ed. (U. Vic), Ph.D. (New York)

Jim Hoffman is a director and recognized Canadian theatre historian. Before joining UCC, Jim taught acting, and directed at several professional theatre schools. He has studied and worked in Canada, England and the United States, earning his doctorate in theatre at New York University, and he keeps current with recent innovations in Theatre Arts by attending major theatre conferences and performances in New York City.

Wesley Eccleston B.A. (UBC/UCC), M.A. (Alberta)

Wesley initially became active at the UCC as a student, and later as a part-time instructor in 1999.  He now teaches first and second year acting courses, and directs a Winter Semester production for the UCC Actors’ Workshop.  His areas of interest include environmental scenography and Canadian theatre history.  In 1997, Wesley co-founded 3 Men of Sin Theatre Productions, and served as co-artistic director for over 30 productions.   Whether as an actor, technician or director, he has collaborated with numerous theatrical and musical companies. Wesley is proud to have served as an Artist in Residence for the Arts Smarts program.  He also actively promotes the development of drama through his participation with municipal and provincial arts organizations. 

Cheryl Delling Technical Theatre Diploma (Red Deer)

Cheryl worked for ATP (Alberta Theatre Projects) in Calgary, Centre Stage Productions in Red Deer, and spent a season with the University of Alberta’s Drama Department before coming to the UCC Actors’ Workshop Theatre in 1997.

Robin Nichol B.F.A. (UVic), M.F.A. (UBC)

Robin has worked professionally as a stage manager, lighting designer, dramaturg, director, actor, and playwright in theatres across Canada, in
Australia, and the UK.  She has taught at Douglas College in New Westminster and Studio 58 at Langara College in Vancouver.
