Online Tutorials

The Academic Advisors have created a number of self-paced Power Point Presentations designed to inform you about Admission, Registration, Financial Aid, Assessment, Degree Requirements and Course Selection.  Others will show you how to personalize your Timetabling with valuable information about Registration.

Be sure to take the time to read this information.  Students who have done so already, have given terrific feedback on what works and what doesn't.  If you have comments, please feel free to forward them to this department at advising@tru.ca

Step One:  Becoming a Student at TRU

Student Life at TRU

A Tutorial  PDF Document for students new to TRU .  Learn about Student Life, including Student Orientation, cultural and social events, recreations and Sports.  Find out about your UPass.  Support Services such as the Writing Centre, the Math Lab, the Gathering Place.

University Preparation

A Tutorial  PDF Document which explains our University Prepartion upgrading courses.  How to apply, placemeht testing, registration, costs and grant applicaiton information.

Degree Advising Tutorials

  • TRU has undergraduate degrees in eleven different Faculties
  • All prospective, first year and continuing second-year students are encouraged to spend time learning about their degree requirements and courses needed to gain entry into year 3.
  • Degree Advising Tutorials break down the troublesome areas, making the requirements clear while pointing out specific core courses needed including a listing of suitable elective choices.
  • The online tutorials assist Arts, Business, Fine Arts and Science Degree students while they progress through first and second year.
  • Students interested in limited enrollment programs such as Education and Social Work will gain insights on how to make their application stronger
  • First year entry Degrees such as BCS, Natural Resource Science, Nursing and Tourism, learn the Admissions requirements and process for applying
  • Before reading through the tutorials, it is beneficial to download the information-sheet(s) for the tutorial first.  All Advising Information Sheets can be downloaded (PDF format).
