Once Class Begin

There are two TRU policies students need to be aware of:

- Student Attendence
- Student Waitlists

1.  Attendance at the Start of a Semester - Student Attendance

A registered student is expected to attend the first class for each course in which he or she is registered.  A registered student who does not attend the first two days of class and who has not made prior arrangements acceptable to the instructor may, at the discretion of the instructor, be considered to have withdrawn from the course and his/her course registration may be deleted and seat reassigned to another student.

TRU recognizes that although a course or program may have reached its registration capactiy prior to the start of the course or program, some students are unable to attend at the last moment and vacancies occur at the start of the course or program.  Students who are on the waitlist must be signed in by an instructor once classes begin  PDF Document Course Change Form.

Regulations:

i.  Waitlist  During the registration period, once the enrolment capacity for a course has been reached, the student still wishing to register may place themselves on a waitlist for that course.
ii.  Waitlisted Students  A waitlisted student is expected to attend the first two days of class.  Waitlisted students who attend the first two days of class will be given priority for vacant seats by order of the waitlist.
iii.  Signed Form  When a student is offered a vacant seat, the instructor will sign a course change form, which the student must bring to the Admissions Office (OM1155) by the deadline date to register for courses. 

Procedure for the First Two Weeks of Class

1.  TAKE YOUR REGISTRATION FORM TO CLASS
a)  To verify registration
b)  Registration form shows class time, room number, and days of the week

2.  REGISTRATION FORM SHOWS YOU ARE WAITLISTED FOR A COURSE
a)  You must attend first two days of class
b)  Inform instructor your name is on the waitlist
c)  The instructor will sign a Course Change Form to add you to the class if there is space for you
d)  Take the signed Course Change Form to Admissions (OM 1155) to register for the course

3.  IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE or ADD COURSES
a)  Go to class and ask instructor if you can attend the class
b)  Have the instructor sign the Course Change Form and take it to Admissions to register (OM 1155) prior to the last date to add a course for the semester

4)  IF YOU WANT TO DROP A COURSE
a)  Take Course Change Form to Admissions to process (OM 1155) prior to last date to drop a course for the semester
b)  You do not need an Instructor's signature to drop a course

5)  IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE SECTION OF A COURSE
a)  This will be the same as adding a course
b)  Take the Course Change Form to class you want to change to and ask instructor to sign the form
c)  Take the Course Change Form to Admissions to process (OM 1155) prior to the last date to add a course for the semster

Remember to Officially Withdraw from a course section you will not be attending by the last date to withdraw from courses (refer to Important Dates PDF Document
