Dates and Deadlines

Semesters

Academic, Career/Technology and University Preparatory programs operate on the following semesterized basis:

Fall Semester	September to December
Winter Semester	January to April
Summer Session	May to August (certain programs only)

Some programs have start and end dates which are different from the semester dates outlined above.

2012

January 9	Monday	Commencement of instruction for Winter semester programs.
January 20	Friday	Last day in the Winter semester for: late registration; program changes; course additions; and to change from Audit to Credit or from Credit to Audit; a 100% refund of tuition less the commitment fee paid.
January 27	Friday	Last day to withdraw from a course which spans the Fall and Winter semesters.
February 20-24	Mon-Fri	Mid-semester break. TRU open.
February 22	Wednesday	Division and departmental In-service day.
March 1	Thursday	Last day for early submission of applications for Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 semester based programs.
March 9	Friday	Last day to withdraw from a Winter semester course.
April 6	Friday	TRU closed. Good Friday.
April 9	Monday	TRU closed. Easter Monday.
April 13	Friday	Last day of instruction for the Winter semester and to withdraw from a Winter semester program.
April 16	Monday	Winter semester examinations begin.
April 28	Saturday	Last day for Winter semester examinations. Winter semester ends.
April 30	Monday	Last day for submission of applications for Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 semester based programs. Applications received after this date will be considered as late applications and will be processed only as space permits.
May 4	Friday	Deadline for Faculty to submit Winter Semester Final Grades to Registrar (Policy ED-3-11). Student deadline to apply to graduate and participate in Spring Convocation.
May 7	Monday	Commencement of instruction for Summer semester programs.
May 11	Friday	Deadline for Program Advisors to submit lists of students eligible to graduate.
May 21	Monday	TRU closed, Victoria Day.
June 14&15	Thurs&Fri	Spring Convocation.

2011

January 10	Monday	Commencement of instruction for Winter semester programs.
January 21	Friday	Last day in the Winter semester for: late registration; program changes; course additions; and to change from Audit to Credit or from Credit to Audit; a 100% refund of tuition less the commitment fee paid.
January 28	Friday	Last day to withdraw from a course which spans the Fall and Winter semesters.
February 21-25	Mon-Fri	Mid-semester break. TRU open (not all programs in session).
February 23	Wednesday	Division and departmental In-service day.
March 1	Tuesday	Last day for early submission of applications for Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 semesterized programs.
March 11	Friday	Last day to withdraw from a Winter semester course.
April 15	Friday	Last day of instruction for Winter semester and to withdraw from a Winter semester program.
April 18	Monday	Winter semester examinations begin.
April 22	Friday	TRU closed. Good Friday.
April 25	Monday	TRU closed. Easter Monday.
April 30	Saturday	Last day for Winter semester examinations. Winter semester ends.
April 30	Saturday	Last day for submission of applications for Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 semesterized programs. Applications received after this date will be considered as late applications and will be processed only as space permits.
May 2	Monday	Commencement of instruction for Summer semester programs.
May 6	Friday	Deadline for Faculty to submit Winter Semester Final Grades to Registrar (Policy ED-3-11). Student deadline to apply to graduate and participate in Spring Convocation.
May 13	Friday	Deadline for Program Advisors to submit lists of students eligible to graduate.
May 23	Monday	TRU closed. Victoria Day
June 9&10	Thurs&Fri	Spring Convocation.
June 24	Friday	Last day to withdraw from a Summer semester course.
July 1	Friday	TRU closed. Canada Day.
July 29	Friday	Last day of instruction for the Summer Semester and to withdraw from a Summer session program.
August 1	Monday	The last day to submit official "final" grades for admission to the Fall 2011 semester.
August 1	Monday	TRU closed. British Columbia Day.
August 2	Tuesday	Summer semester examinations begin.
August 5	Friday	Last day for Summer semester examinations. Summer semester ends.
August 12	Friday	Deadline for Faculty to submit Summer Semester Final Grades to Registrar (Policy ED-3-11). Student deadline to Apply to Graduate and participate in Fall Convocation.
August 19	Friday	Deadline for Program Advisors to submit lists of students eligible to Graduate.
August 28	Sunday	TRU Kamloops campus closed.
September 2	Friday	Last day for payment of fees for Fall semester based programs.
September 5	Monday	TRU closed. Labour Day. (Some services available)
September 6	Tuesday	TRU student orientation day.
September 7	Wednesday	Commencement of instruction for all Fall semester programs.
September 20	Tuesday	Last day in the Fall semester for: late registration; program changes; course additions; and to change from Audit to Credit or from Credit to Audit; a 100% refund of tuition less the commitment fee paid.
October 7	Friday	Fall Convocation
October 10	Monday	TRU closed. Thanksgiving.
October 28	Friday	Last day to withdraw from a Fall semester course.
November 11	Friday	TRU closed. Remembrance Day.
December 2	Friday	Last day of instruction for the Fall semester and to withdraw from a Fall semester program. Last day for payment of fees for Winter semester based programs.
December 5	Monday	Fall semester examinations begin.
December 17	Saturday	Last day for Fall semester examinations. **Note: Some programs may schedule final exams during the last week before Christmas.
December 25-January 2	2011-2012	TRU is closed December 25, 2011 to January 2, 2012 with services reopening on January 3. Some classes may start prior to the start of the Winter semester.
